Emma took over the responsibility of running the Munich Volkshochschule CELTA courses in August 2011. She qualified as a CELTA tutor in January 2009 and since then has been fully involved in all CELTA courses run by the MVHS.
Emma completed her CELTA in January 2001 in Newcastle and then worked as an EFL teacher at City College Manchester where she also completed the Trinity Diploma in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (Dip. TESOL). She moved to Munich in July 2004 and has been working here as a freelance teacher of both general and business English ever since.
Having qualified as a CELTA tutor in May 2010, Amanda took over the role of Senior Tutor in September 2011. She is responsible for ensuring all of our courses run smoothly. As well as a CELTA tutor, Amanda is an experienced TEFL teacher who has worked in both Munich and Spain. She has taught a wide variety of ELT courses including business and general English courses for adults and also has many years experience of teaching very young learners. Amanda is partly responsible for candidate selection as well as the administration work on the CELTA course.
Together, Emma and Amanda wrote "The Ultimate Guide to CELTA".
Helen is a business communication skills trainer based in Ingolstadt, Germany. She has many years’ teaching experience in both corporate and academic environments and she regularly presents at ELT conferences. Helen has written the teachers’ notes and has run train-the-trainer workshops for the business English magazine Business Spotlight and she is currently the Chair of MELTA (Munich English Language Teachers’ Association).
Adrian has extensive teaching and teacher training experience. He has taught in Germany, Finland, former Yugoslavia, Lebanon and the UK. He has trained teachers in many countries including Germany, Egypt, South Africa, Poland, Turkey and Japan. Adrian is also a Delta tutor and the author of several ELT coursebooks and of a teacher training course for inexperienced teachers.
Julia Flyng is an experienced TEFL teacher who has taught in Munich since 1992. Julia teaches general and business English courses and specialises in legal English courses.
Dana studied English and Danish at university in Prague. She has been teaching general, academic, exam and business English courses for many years and has also translated several books. Dana moved to Munich in 2005. She likes meeting people from different cultures and enjoys the challenge of teaching teachers.
In addition to their qualifications and experience as described above, all our tutors have taken part in a Cambridge ESOL CELTA tutor training programme.
