Bavarian dishes are hearty soul food, turning very simple regional ingredients into tasty, satisfying culinary experiences. We are going to prepare some simple varieties of bread and potato dumplings, some Spätzle - serving it as Käsespätzle (Bavarian Mac & Cheese), and an original Krustenbraten (roasted pork and crackling) from Bavarian pork. For other side dishes we will make some healthy Krautsalat (slaw) and of course Kartoffelsalat (potato salad). To finish off we will make Apfel- and Topfenstrudel. Meditation means becoming familiar with one's own mind. Through mindful and friendly attention to our body sensations as well as to our breath and subsequently also to our thoughts and feelings, we succeed in taking a step back. There is more "space" inside. As a result, we are no longer able to follow our impulses "blindly", but to better control our thoughts, feelings and actions. So we become "captains" of our own ship again instead of letting ourselves be swept away by the waves of life.
Yin Yang Yoga combines flowing Vinyasa Yoga with calm Yin Yoga. The Yang part involves intensive practice. The movements are guided by the breath, they strengthen the muscles and stimulate the metabolism. The postures of the Yin part are held for a few minutes with the attention turned inward. This particularly addresses the facial tissue and gently relieves tension. The interplay of Yin and Yang balances body and mind. For participants with and without yoga experience. Qigong as part of traditional Chinese medicine can harmonize and strengthen body, mind and spirit. For this, gently flowing movements are combined with calm breathing and mindful relaxation and imagination exercises. With regular practice Qigong is easy to learn and suitable for all ages. Traditional Thai Massage (TTM) is a full body holistic workout with a very soothing effect. In this workshop you will gain an insight into this beautiful massage form which is performed while fully clothed on a mat on the floor. With full physical involvement the typical techniques for the masseur are, for example, the use of thumb, palm, foot, elbow etc. to relax and stretch the body of the recipient. Course participants are invited to discover the pleasure by both giving and receiving TTM in each massage-sequence. A delicious meal creates a sense of community and transcends boundaries. The Creole cuisine of the southern USA in particular manages to bring people together like no other due to its indigenous, African and European influences. We'll cook up a soul-warming gumbo with savory ingredients like andouille sausage, shrimp and okra. We're celebrating veggies the same way native people did with flavorful succotash, starring corn and beans. Finally, we treat ourselves with beignets, the sweet temptation from New Orleans. Please bring: tea towel, apron and small plastic containers.
Learn to make the legendary rice noodle soup Pho, a national dish of Vietnam. The dish is a real treat for the soul, so much so that it has found its way into food culture worldwide. This flavoursome soup is simmered with meat, seasoned with star anise, cinnamon and ginger, then finished off with fresh herbs, lime, chillies and bean sprouts. The secret of the soup is the long cooking time of the meat bones. We will prepare various pho soups with beef, chicken and duck. Bring with you: sharp knife, apron, tea towel and a small plastic container.
