Boston: Hawthorne, Harvard, History (ab B1+)

In this lecture we will have a look at how Boston was the scene of several key events of the American Revolution (i.e. the Boston Tea Party). Upon its independence from Great Britain, it continued to be an important port, as well as a center for education and culture. Boston's many firsts include the US first public school, first subway system and first public park. The Boston area universities make it an international center of higher education (Harvard, MIT, and Tufts). Nathaniel Hawthorne and Edgar Allan Poe, two Boston natives, influenced literature in the United States and around the world. Come and find out more about this history-charged city!
