Unit 5-8

In the B1+ courses, you’ll consolidate your B1 knowledge and start building towards B2. The focus is on helping you express yourself more fluently and naturally in a variety of everyday and personal contexts.

Units 1–4: Topics: relationships, fear, the future, past events; Grammar: question forms, narrative tenses, future time expressions (ten years from now), modals of probability (might, could), verb + preposition (e.g. learn with, fight against)

Units 5–8: Topics: culture, then and now, dealing with pressure, ageing; Grammar: comparing and contrasting (a bit more interesting, far more consistent, as lazy as), used to and would, zero, first and second conditionals, verb + -ing and verb + infinitive (e.g. I like reading, I plan to go to Rome)

Units 9–12: Topics: obsessions, family, the environment, lifestyle; Grammar: third conditional, idioms (e.g. once in a blue moon, to feel under the weather), relative clauses
