Practice and improve your spoken English! We will focus on authentic language from videos or short texts, and use activities to make you feel more confident with spontaneous conversations and your listening comprehension, while also helping to increase your vocabulary. We will read the novel, The Night Manager, adapted version, level B1. You will spend 60 minutes in an online class on Zoom each week, and in between, you will participate in written online discussions and tasks with your teacher.

This course is designed to bridge the gap between levels B1 and B2. The focus is on speaking while improving fluency and vocabulary by using lively communication games and activities, short texts and stories. Discussing current topics will be incorporated in the course, with plenty of interaction with both the other participants and the teacher to create a supportive and communicative learning atmosphere.

Find out how to communicate in everyday situations and talk about everyday issues in a relaxed atmosphere, correcting and avoiding mistakes as you go. You can "go with the flow" - or, together with your teacher, choose the things you want to talk about.

"That's so cringe! Don't be an unc!" Huh? What did they say? We'll dive into the 21st century English of today's artists, entertainers, social media influencers, young adults, and sportspeople to try and find the answer. In a very non-academic way, we will examine and discuss modern English of today's pop culture.

In this fast-paced course and the following part 2 (Unit 6-10) you will complete the coursebook and therefore the C1 level in a quick and goal-oriented manner. Please plan in time for homework and revision. Units 1–5: Topics include trends, creativity, progress, intelligence, and games. Grammar topics: future in the past, negative inversion (no sooner… than, not only….but also) wishes and regrets (if only I could…, I wish I were…), the passive, reporting verbs (assert, conclude, imply). Units 6–10: Topics include discoveries, extremes, well-being, and society. Grammar topics: three-part phrasal verbs: (switch off from, look back on, come up against) cleft sentences, relative clauses with complex relative pronouns (whereby, whose, whom), discourse markers (in any case, despite, moreover).

In this course, you’ll study grammar topics at home through guided materials, then put that grammar into action in class with conversation practice. Each session focuses on real communication using the grammar you've prepared beforehand—giving you the chance to speak more confidently, get real-time feedback, and correct mistakes as you go. Unusual stories, amazing records and curious facts from around the world: This course invites you to talk about the “wacky” side of life in English. Using topics inspired by the Guinness World Records - from peregrine falcons flying at 389 km/h to 132 scoops of ice cream balanced on one cone, cherry pits spat over 28 metres, or people holding their breath for more than 29 minutes - we focus on speaking, exchanging ideas and building confidence. In a relaxed atmosphere, you will expand your vocabulary naturally while actively using English in conversation.
