Have you always dreamed of painting and creating your own art? Realise your vision and start painting now! In this course you will learn or revise fundamental techniques and, with guidance, transfer your ideas to paper. The result will be as varied as its creators. Acrylic paints are most suitable for this course, however, if you would prefer to work with other materials, please feel free to bring them along.

This course offers an overview of key periods, major figures and historical turning points from the Middle Ages to the present. Improve your observational and technical drawing skills by activating the right side of the brain whilst learning how to draw. Based on ideas in Betty Edwards’ book "Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain", you will discover drawing techniques which trick the brain into seeing better. These techniques can help improve realistic drawing skills, the drawing of faces, as well as one’s understanding of perspective. Even beginners can use this method to achieve surprising results.

This course will be taught in English. You need at least B2 in English to take part.

Ease yourself into the relaxing world of writing. Arrive with your own ideas or let yourself be inspired by a variety of intriguing impulses provided. At various points in the evening, you will be invited to read what you have written. This course is all about immersing yourself within the freedom and relief of writing -- and doing so within the warm generosity of a group.

Do you already have experience in drawing? Now it's time to improve and further develop your knowledge and skills. We will emphasize drawing the human figure - anatomy, body mechanics, dynamic poses, portraiture, facial expressions, psychology, and emotions. We will work again on the basics of drawing, but will add texturing, materiality, and lighting. We will pay close attention to how to create focal points in our pictures, as well as to colour theory and the contribution of colours to visual language.

Explore basic illustration methods and materials to create colourful and realistic images. Develop skills which will allow you to have a different and unique approach to the text being illustrated, depending on the literary genre and the age of its readers. We will discuss basic design and colour theory and look at some techniques of watercolour and drawing which will give you more control over your image and level of detail. This course is excellent for anyone who is always striving to draw or paint more "realistically".

Create your own character, whether it be a hero or a monster! You are interested in comic, manga or anime or you want to use your drawing and painting skills through illustration, computer games or film production? We will look at basic methods of character design as well as proportion, shape, perspective, deformation, body language, expressions, mimics, anatomy and texturing. You will use your skills and imagination to create your own characters: heroes, beauties, cuties, monsters, animals, aliens, machinery – let your imagination run wild.

This course is for those who know the letters of the Hebrew alphabet, are familiar with the vowel signs (Nikud), are able to read and have a basic vocabulary.&nbsp;This course is perfect for those who want to read more fluently, expand their vocabulary and improve their pronunciation. You'll also gain more confidence in speaking, understanding sentence structures better and&nbsp;improving your listening comprehension. The Hiragana script was introduced. This course offers you the opportunity to learn how to read and write Katakana letters. You will also develop the ability to speak and construct basic sentences in Japanese. The course will be taught in English. You need English&nbsp;level&nbsp;A2-B1.

The aim is to develop skills in using pencil and paper and to develop an eye for the essentials. The focus is on depicting basic shapes, proportions, spatiality and hatching. You can work with all classic drawing materials, but also use colored pencils or watercolors for colorful design. The teacher will guide you individually according to your level of knowledge.

Successful projects primarily include personnel who are able to lead and motivate teams. A major requirement of any successful team is excellent communication skills. How is it possible to develop a team from a group of employees and what is your contribution to such a team? In this seminar you will learn, via theoretical stages and practical exercises, exactly which processes should be heeded, which developmental phases a group needs to traverse to become a successful team, how tasks can be skillfully delegated, how to motivate employees and how to resolve conflicts. This seminar is in alignment with international standards of project management (PMI). It is a part of the Project Management Course of Lectures which completes the examination for certification as Project Manager (V440565) but can also be visited as a standalone course. Requirement: Basic knowledge in project management.

If you've ever thought of rice as merely a side dish, this experience will change your mind!

Discover the various experimental approaches to drawing. Explore your creativity and develop expressive approaches to image making. Through a series of in-class exercises and projects, you will learn to take risks, embrace serendipity, be innovative, work collaboratively, and to employ a range of conventional and non-conventional drawing mediums and tools. The teacher supports you individually on your way.

This course introduces you to different aspects of creative writing: character, setting, dialogue, genre, point-of-view, poetry and more – fun and playful exercises to encourage the inner writer to fly. We’ll work inside the classroom and outside in nature. We’ll write, review, read out, share, listen and watch. Each week we'll try something new, something a little bit different: strong verbs, fanciful conversations, unexpected delights.

Do you enjoy Bavarian pretzels and rolls and want to learn how to bake them yourself? We'll show you how! You'll learn how to bake pretzels with their typical golden crust and soft center, as well as light and airy rolls with their fluffy texture. We'll also prepare matching homemade spreads like Obatzda (traditional Bavarian cheese) or herb quark. We'll mix, knead, shape, and bake our own delicious creations. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced baker, a fun and interactive experience awaits everyone. At the end, we'll enjoy our baked goods and spreads in a relaxed atmosphere.

Traditional Indian cuisine is often very complex. There is usually little time for it in everyday work and family life. In this course we will look at fast and simple Indian dishes which can be on the table in just a few minutes. We will cook a quick chicken tikka masala, an eggplant masala curry, spicy potatoes with fresh coriander and cumin, and a mung bean and lentil soup with Indian basmati rice. All dishes are very healthy, nutritious and gluten free. We will enjoy the dishes together with a saffron-mango lassi.

Germany can seem confusing – especially politically. This course offers an introduction to the political system of today’s Federal Republic. We begin with basic structures, institutions and cultural patterns, then look at key political forces, parties and personalities. How does German politics work and where might it be headed? The Basque equivalent of tapas is pintxos, which are just as delicious and even more varied. Served in bars and taverns throughout the Basque Country, they represent the quintessential Basque cuisine. Explore some of the most famous pintxos, like the pintxo de tortilla or the classic gildas, and learn how to create your own. With these original, easy-to-prepare dishes, you'll delight all your guests at your next celebration.

By making a piece of jewellery (a ring, bracelet, pair of earrings or a pendant), beginner goldsmiths will learn the basic goldsmithing techniques such as soldering, filing and sawing. Intermediate goldsmiths will have the opportunity to learn new techniques by designing and creating their own ideas. In this course we will mainly work with silver. You are welcome to bring your own silver and stones, however, it will be possible to buy silver and a variety of semi-precious stones directly in the workshop.

Writing does not begin on the page - it begins in the heart, palms, eyes, ears, nose, toes, belly, and in the hairs at the back of your neck. It is an intimate, lovely, and often surprising way of being and breathing in the world. This workshop is an exploratory celebration of the dance between your writing and your life. In the warmth of a group, we will tap into our senses, our natural sense of curiosity and play, and explore the unknown wilds of both our memories and imaginations.

Traditional Thai-Yoga Massage (TYM) is a full body holistic workout with a very soothing effect. In this workshop you will gain an insight into this beautiful massage form which is performed while fully clothed on a mat on the floor. With full physical involvement the typical techniques for the masseur are, for example, the use of thumb, palm, foot, elbow etc. to relax and stretch the body of the recipient. Course participants are invited to discover the pleasure by both giving and receiving TYM in each massage-sequence.

This course is for beginners as well as those who wish to improve their drawing skills and refine their understanding of visual language. Students will develop drawing skills and become confident using the tools of visual expression. Needed: PC/laptop/tablet with microphone and camera, good internet connection, current browser version. In honour of Jane Austen's 250th birthday, we will discuss three of her novels in this course (first session: Northanger Abbey; second session: Pride and Prejudice; third session: Persuasion). We will also look at the historical, cultural and literary background to her work, talk about various film versions and adaptations such as Bridget Jones's Diary, and discuss why Jane Austen remains so popular, not only as a classic of English literature, but also in popular culture.

In this workshop we will concentrate on the art of ring making. You will experience and practise the basic and essential techniques of the goldsmith such as sawing, filing and soldering. We will mainly work with silver and semi-precious stones. Participants who want to work with gold should bring their own materials (including the soldering material). You are welcome to bring your own silver; however, it will be possible to buy silver and stones directly in the workshop.

Find out how to combine various techniques of watercolour, drawing, collage and stencilling to create expressive and colourful artworks. Through practical demonstrations and exercises, you will learn how to quickly sketch using watercolour and pencil, how to plan an image, how to apply various drawing and watercolour techniques, and how to incorporate collage and stencil elements to your work. We focus on developing your own unique approach to creating mixed media images on paper.

Taijiquan and Qigong are traditional Chinese internal arts to harmonise and strengthen body, mind and spirit. Regular practice can bring better health, increased energy levels and a greater ability to deal with stress and pressure. The movements are energetic, elegant and subtle. With the right amount of patience, Taijiquan and Qigong are easy to learn and practice.

This course invites you to get to know the "Settling the Mind Meditation" as taught by Dr. Thupten Jinpa, Tibetan teacher and academic. It is a special form of mindfulness meditation that is also practiced in a lying posture and encourages us to let go of mind habits and body tensions. We allow our body and mind to slow down their energy and to settle down. The focus of this practice is on exploring letting go on a physical, emotional and mental level. We can learn to 'hear' and 'feel' deep stillness and peace within us. “This inner space is serene, restful and slow” (Th. Jinpa). After a short arrival meditation and an introduction to the basics of "Settling the Mind" we will practice both concentration on sinking in, and also reflect together on the need and longing for a mind that is serene and settled.

Our main focus is "The Camera". During this course you will become familiar with all your camera's most important functions and how to use them. You will also gain the technical know-how to start making the most of your digital SLR and develop a creative approach to photography as well as learning how to set the menu correctly to get the best technical results. We will go on location to shoot our pictures then evaluate them later in class.

This interactive workshop offers tools to better understand and navigate cultural differences in general – whether in daily life, studies, or the workplace. In the second part, we’ll take a closer look at common features of German culture that often puzzle internationals. With theory, exercises, and space for discussion, you'll gain insights and reflect on your own intercultural experiences.

"Where are the drums?" You might find yourself asking this when singers in vocal ensembles mimic the sounds of drums like the hi-hat, snare and bass drum. In beatboxing, all these sounds are made using just the mouth, tongue, throat, and nose. In this workshop, you'll learn the basics of beatboxing, practice together, and get useful tips for practicing on your own at home.
