In addition to practising your spoken English in class, this course will incorporate at least four lessons which will not take place in the classroom, but out and about in the city. The full-immersion experience in another environment gives you a much more natural and effective way to practise conversing and exploring the vocabulary necessary for different topics. Locations and ideas are chosen and agreed on together.

We take a critical look at the week's top stories from business, politics and society. Participants will practice summarizing, argumentation, constructive criticism, disagreeing and finding consensus. Focus on prepared speaking, building alternative vocabulary, and speaking skills. Some preparation at home is required. Before joining this course, please make sure your level is an advanced B2 to stable C1.

At year end we look back at the events of 2025 and how politics, technology and social issues have shaped our work and personal lives. Speaking practice on selected topics expands vocabulary and encourages honest and spontaneous commentary. We write and edit short texts, review relevant grammar points, and share insights from our career and personal experiences. Come and enjoy companionable evenings around the fire and the opportunity to reflect on our achievements and our goals in the calm setting of Lake Starnberg. We speak English only.

Join us for three evenings of focused English practice using a real business case study. You’ll work in groups to understand a business problem, discuss the main challenges, and find possible solutions. With support and guided discussion, you’ll learn to build strong arguments and improve your speaking skills. Our main goal is clear and confident communication. We’ll also look at current business trends to help you use modern, relevant language. This course can be booked together with English in Action 2 or just taken on its own.

Just how radical was her vision and how did it reflect what was happening in the world beyond the salon? At the end of the Second World War, an aspiring architect and artist started to draw dress patterns that gave us THE NEW LOOK, or was that only Christian Dior's idealized male version of female shape and beauty? We will "visit" some current fashion exhibits in text, photos and interviews and look at society through the lens of Haute Couture. Come along to Paris and to Manhattan to the salons, the high society clients and the business of brand and luxury.

This course focuses on language mechanics and the practical use of key grammar points. You’ll improve your speaking and writing skills through guided practice, using texts and podcasts as a starting point. Each session gives you the chance to apply grammar in real-life situations and build your confidence in using English. This course can be booked together with English in Action 1 or just taken on its own.

Practice the language you need in daily business. Work on vocabulary and terms for specific topics of your choice, e.g. managing change, giving feedback, client service and setting goals. Discuss trends, "meet" industry and thought leaders and plan for success. Outside the classroom we share meals, chat around the fire and go on a fun outing. We speak English only! This course is taught by a Business English teacher who has worked for international companies and start-ups in marketing, sales, and PR.
