Do you like to play vocabulary or Quiz games? Have you ever played them in English? In this fun and relaxed class you'll build vocabulary, improve speaking skills and enjoy learning English through games like Scrabble, Taboo, What's my Line and many more. No pressure, just play, speak, enjoy the game and have fun.

This practical, hands-on, baking class conducted in English, will introduce you to typical baked items that originate from the UK nations. You will work in pairs or small groups and follow recipes under guided tuition, to prepare and bake at least two items from a selection of sweet and savoury items such as Welsh cakes, English Bakewell tarts, Cornish pasties and Irish barmbrack. The session will finish with a sampling of the baked items, enjoyed with a cup of tea! The course tutors are Maureen Breeze of It’s a Breeze Baking, who will be visiting from England to teach the class, along with Vivienne Arnold. Make sure to bring a box to take home any delicious leftovers!

Just how radical was her vision and how did it reflect what was happening in the world beyond the salon? At the end of the Second World War, an aspiring architect and artist started to draw dress patterns that gave us THE NEW LOOK, or was that only Christian Dior's idealized male version of female shape and beauty? We will "visit" some current fashion exhibits in text, photos and interviews and look at society through the lens of Haute Couture. Come along to Paris and to Manhattan to the salons, the high society clients and the business of brand and luxury.

Do you want to improve your English in a fun and engaging way? In this short course we'll explore the fascinating world of the Amish – who they are, where they come from, and how they live today. Through pictures, film clips, videos and lots of conversation we'll learn about their history, values and their every day live today. A great opportunity to build vocabulary, improve speaking skills, and learn more about a unique American subculture.

Is this classification linguistic, suggesting Indian-English is a down graded, ethnic form of the language? Or is this a complex description of different thematic and cultural elements of style? We shall try to answer these questions - and more! Come along and read and share some great moments of modern prose!

Reading and sharing your thoughts about what you’ve read is simply a wonderful way to not only keep up your English, but to stay in touch with the world of images and ideas. Selected with an eye towards variety as well as public recognition, each book will be read and then discussed for two pleasant and inspiring evenings. This semester we focus on literature about the future. Please try to read the whole book by the time we have our first session so you can freely share your thoughts and impressions.

As well as how to say "Nelken" or "Schublade" in English! Don't forget a dishcloth, your favorite drink and a few plastic boxes to take extra food home in!
