The Volkshochschule is back in business!

Information about the programme start

Dear Participants

Registration for the Autumn/Winter programme 2020/21 started on 1st September. Following our experience gained from the successful Summer Volkshochschule programme, the first regular programme period, which has been planned on the basis of the current hygiene concept, will start in October.

It is important to us that you can learn together carefree and safely at all our locations and in all courses/workshops and seminars. For this reason, a hygiene concept and some new regulations are in place at the MVHS, these regulations were successfully introduced during the summer.

Stay healthy: Our hygiene concept

We have already taken the most important precautions for safe learning. From now on, you will learn in smaller groups and only in rooms with sufficient ventilation and which allow a safety distance of 1.5 m between the participants. A regular cleaning of the rooms, sanitary facilities and hand contact points (eg door handles) is guaranteed. Event formats and approaches to teaching have also been adapted.

In order to keep the risk of infection in the course as low as possible, we are dependent on your assistance and would kindly ask you to adhere to the hygiene regulations applicable in all MVHS buildings and events. These are based on the most up to date regulations issued by the relevant authorities and are always adapted as required. Therefore changes may occur.

We will keep you up to date on all protective measures and hygiene rules in our >> Hygiene Concept and on notices at all our locations.

For your safety: compulsory registration for all events

At present, all Munich Volkshochschule events are only accessible with registration. This measure serves to ensure that, in the event of an infection, any existing chain of infection can be traced without interruption. In this case, we are legally obliged to pass on the participant's data at the request of the public health department.

Registration is currently possible by telephone, in writing, online, and in person at the registration offices in the Gasteig, Einstein 28 and the city areas.

Unfortunately, it is not possible to register with the teaching staff immediately before the event or to purchase tickets at the box office. Your registration must be completed one hour before the event begins. The easiest way is to register online at

MVHS-Card: postponed does not mean cancelled

Due to the current compulsory registration, it is unfortunately not possible to visit or book events with the MVHS-Card in Autumn/Winter 2020/2021. MVHS-Card holders from Spring/Summer 2020 are asked to be patient, your MVHS-Card will be valid again when the general registration obligation is no longer necessary, at the earliest in Spring/Summer 2021.

Learning at a distance: MVHS Online

For those who currently prefer to learn from home, we offer a wide range of options from purely online courses to blended learning formats which combine online and classroom sessions. The full range of our online programme is always up-to-date on our website at We would also be happy to advise you by telephone in the respective specialist departments.

Some of our courses can be continued flexibly online should there be another interruption in the programme due to Corona. You will find a reference to this directly in the respective course descriptions.
