In this course we address a variety of themes and get to know famous authors by reading original texts or abridged versions of their books at the B2 level. We are going to read "RED DUST" by Gillain Slovo. Discussion of books always gives opportunity enough to talk about new expressions, interesting formulations and review grammar issues. We read challenging articles from the Economist, The New Yorker …and from other original English sources you, the participants have found. We look for articles which provoke discussion. We talk about them and the grammar and often opinions differ about what we have read. That breathes truth into the saying “Variety is the spice of life”. You will meet new words and expressions that you don’t know in the articles. Don’t be worried about that. That is the whole point of a challenging course. If you are at C1 level or have ambitions to speak at this level, here is an opportunity to add to your English knowledge at an advanced level.

We are going to read "The Testament" by John Grisham. The books by Grisham are page turners. They are very good stories told by a master storyteller. You will have to do some reading at home, underlining words and/or expressions you don’t know or want to talk about. This will give us more time to talk about the book, its characters and the grammar used. The main emphasis will be on reading for fun, not to understand every word. We need to understand meaning not just words! Expect lots of talking, a good team atmosphere and fun.
